Blake Carpenter believes Kansas government should be limited, accountable, and focused on the core responsibilities that matter most to families. That means lowering the tax burden, protecting constitutional rights, supporting strong schools and safe communities, defending Kansas values, and making sure state government works for the people it serves.
As Speaker Pro Tempore of the Kansas House of Representatives, Blake works to bring practical, conservative leadership to Topeka while staying focused on the concerns he hears from families across Sedgwick County.
Lowering Taxes and Making Kansas More Affordable
Kansas families are working hard, but the cost of living continues to put pressure on household budgets. Groceries, property taxes, insurance, utilities, and everyday expenses have all made it harder for families to get ahead.
Blake has consistently supported tax relief because Kansans should be able to keep more of what they earn. Recent tax cuts now provide more than $1 billion in annual relief for Kansans, including efforts to eliminate the state sales tax on food, end the state income tax on Social Security benefits, reduce income taxes, and provide property tax relief.
Blake believes tax relief should be responsible, sustainable, and focused on helping working families, seniors, homeowners, and small businesses. When the state has the resources to provide relief, government should not hold onto more money than it needs.
His priorities include:
• Continuing to reduce the tax burden on Kansas families
• Fighting for meaningful property tax relief
• Protecting seniors from unnecessary taxes on retirement income
• Keeping Kansas competitive for workers, families, and employers
• Making sure state spending is responsible and transparent
Defending Kansas Security and Sovereignty
Kansas must be serious about protecting its land, data, infrastructure, and public investments from foreign adversaries. Blake has supported efforts to protect Kansas from threats involving foreign ownership, state technology, cybersecurity, and public investments tied to countries of concern.
Protecting Kansas sovereignty means making sure our farmland, critical infrastructure, public retirement funds, government systems, and personal data are not put at risk by hostile foreign actors.
Blake will continue supporting common sense policies that strengthen Kansas security and protect the interests of Kansans.
Advocating for Second Amendment Rights
Blake Carpenter is a steadfast advocate for the Second Amendment and has consistently supported legislation to protect the rights of law abiding Kansans to keep and bear arms. Throughout his time in the Legislature, Blake has worked to ensure that Kansans can exercise their constitutional rights without unnecessary financial or regulatory burdens.
Blake has authored and supported legislation to strengthen gun rights in Kansas, including efforts to reduce and eliminate fees for concealed carry permits. These reforms help ensure that law abiding citizens are not priced out of exercising their right to protect themselves and their families. He has also supported efforts to strengthen constitutional protections for gun ownership in Kansas, helping safeguard these rights for future generations.
In addition to his legislative work, Blake has been actively involved with the Kansas State Rifle Association, the state affiliate of the National Rifle Association. He has served on the KSRA board since 2020 and, in 2025, was elected Vice President of the organization. Through this role, Blake continues to support responsible gun ownership, firearms education, and the protection of Second Amendment rights across Kansas.
Blake’s legislative record and leadership with the KSRA reflect his commitment to defending the constitutional freedoms of Kansas gun owners and ensuring that the Second Amendment remains protected and respected in Kansas.
Championing Fairness in Women’s Sports
Blake Carpenter believes women and girls deserve fair opportunities to compete and succeed in athletics. That is why he played an important role in passing the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, legislation that protects the integrity of women’s sports in Kansas by ensuring female athletes can compete on a level playing field.
The path to passing this legislation was not easy. The bill faced strong opposition and multiple vetoes from Governor Kelly, but Blake and other conservative legislators continued fighting for fairness. On the third attempt, the Legislature successfully overrode the governor’s veto, marking a major victory for female athletes, parents, and Kansans who believe women’s sports should be protected.
Blake’s advocacy also connected with the national effort to defend fairness in athletics. He was photographed with Riley Gaines, a leading national voice for protecting women’s sports, whose advocacy helped bring greater public attention and support to this important issue.
This effort showed the importance of principled leadership in Topeka. Blake has shown he is willing to stand firm, even in the face of opposition, when Kansas values and opportunities for young women are on the line.
